The more serious type of arrhythmias occurs mostly to people who are 60 years old or older. Some types of arrhythmias can occur in young adults and children as well like paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. Arrhythmias can be treated. If your doctor diagnose you with arrhythmias, he/she will set up a treatment plan for you. Treatment of arrhythmias may include medicine, medical procedures(machines) , and surgery. Arrhythmias may be harmless if you take care of it and sometimes it may be unnoticeable until you go get a check up from your doctor.
You might ask, "What is arrhythmias?" It is a cardiovascular disorder where the rate of the muscle contraction in your heart is abnormal. There are many things that can cause arrhythmias. Some of them are :
- heart attack
- scarring of heart tissue
- blocked arteries in the heart
- high blood pressure
- diabetes
- medication
- air pollution
- a fluttering in your chest
- a racing heartbeat
- a slow heartbeat
- chest pain
- shortness of breath
- light headedness
- dizziness
- fainting or near fainting
