So you might ask, " What is a sprained ankle?" Well a sprained ankle is when you have stretched or torn a ligament or muscle in your ankle. This occurs when your ankle is forced out of its normal position which causes the ligaments or muscles to be stretched or torn. Athletes are most likely to get and ankle sprain like soccer players or football players. To treat a sprained ankle, you can use the acronym PRICE. This stands for protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation. If it is severe enough, you might need to have surgery to repair the torn ligament.
